Hemen Modi embodies business excellence by showing that good design and good business are inseparable. He is the founder behind “Together We Grow,” the guiding principle of Design TWG, a Mississauga-based firm that has grown from a small practice into a multidisciplinary architecture, interior design and strategic branding studio creating commercial, restaurant, retail and residential spaces across North America. Today the firm operates in Canada, the U.S. and India, with an office in Pune.

Over two decades of practice in Toronto, Hemen has built a reputation as both a creative designer and a design strategist, drawing on a background that spans design and the construction industry. His work has helped hospitality and franchise brands grow. Design TWG’s client list includes Marriott, IHG, Hilton, Radisson, Choice Hotels and Four Points by Sheraton, as well as homegrown franchises. For example, it created a signature look that unified Pizza Depot’s franchisees across Canada and set them apart from competitors. The firm has delivered more than 50 distinct restaurant interiors and a major hospitality project covering 164 guest rooms and suites at a Toronto airport hotel. His peers have recognized this work: NEWH named Design TWG a Top Interior Design firm for 2017 and 2018.

Hemen’s leadership also reaches beyond his own firm. Since 2022 he has mentored third- and fourth-year interior design students through the NEWH Toronto Chapter, helping them strengthen their portfolios and move into the profession. He is active in the GTA business community, collaborating with entrepreneurs and championing new ventures. His philosophy, “Together We Grow,” describes how he runs his business, serves his clients and invests in the next generation.
